Most PVC kayaks come with instructions for repair in the owner’s manual, along with a small repair kit. Always follow manufacturer guidelines when repairing inflatable kayaks for the best success.
Inflatable Kayaks are actually very durable but sometimes puncture. Fortunately, these small leaks can be repaired in only a few minutes. Always have your repair kit with you during expeditions and keep it out of direct sunlight.
To repair a small leak, deflate the boat completely and the clean and dry the area. Apply a tiny drop of glue and let it dry for 12 hours, or at least 30 minutes if you need to get back in water. Do not completely inflate the damaged area until fully dry.
Large repairs will need a patch. If the leak is larger than a pinhole, be safe and use a patch. This only takes a few moments and ensures the hole won’t reopen.
If you have trouble finding the leak, remember you can always apply soapy water to the area, as it will bubble at the source of the leak.
